Event 5 Update

Day Two of the Deer Creek Bass Trail Super Summer Grinder Bassathon was slightly better fishing for the teams that competed. A few less boats brought in a few more fish, 77 total weighing 109 lbs.  Top honors went to Brad Moser and Natalie Lowe, who bounced back from the first day with a 6 bass limit weighing in at 11.19 lbs, and they too had the big bass for Event 5, a 4.02 lb largemouth.  Their catch netted them $1,050 for first place, $260 for big bass, and $150 for the Top Skeeter Award.  For the math junkies out there, that means their bass were worth $130.47/lb...not bad for a days work.  Second place went to the father and son team of Terry and Bill Dillon, who brought in a limit weighing 9.86 lbs, which earned them $893 PLUS $150...so over $1,000 for second place!  Third place went to Nate Staten and Rob Walton, who we just behind the Dillon's with 9.63 lbs, earning them $606 in prize money.

After 5 of 6 Regular Season events in the books, the Team of the Year Race is starting to tighten up and solidify the season.  Congrats to Hermie Veach and Randy Bolin, who have climbed to the top of the heap by consistently bringing in good quality fish.  Full Team of the Year results can be found here.

Event 4 Update

The dog days of summer and the dog days of bass fishing have officially set in at Rocky Point.  Anglers battled through back to back days of tough fishing and hot weather, but as always...somebody caught 'em.  Those "somebodies" for Event 4 were the father and son team of Chris and Austin LeClere, who brought in a great sack of fish, including two 4+ pounders!  Their 6 bass limit totaled 12.29 lbs, and included the big bass of the weekend at 4.36 lbs.  They took home $1,100 for first place, as well as $280 for big bass!  Second place went to Jordan Bozarth and Steve Compton with a limit weighing in at 11.42 lbs.  Their catch was good for $903, PLUS another $150 for being the top finishing Skeeter Bass Boat in the event.

Event 3 Update

Ouch!!!...Event 3 was smooth, but unfortunately the weigh-in flew by due to a brutally tough day of fishing...we didn't have many bass to send down "The Tube".  22 teams managed to wrangle 79 bass to the scales, which is on the lower end of the Deer Creek Bass Trail stats.  In reflection, we figure the timing of the event hurt both participation and catches, so we'll likely start avoiding these holiday weekend events in future seasons.  With that said, Todd Hensley and Marty Sisk did manage a good catch and won the event with a 6 bass limit, weighing 10.34 lbs!  They took home $1,000 for their day's work...not bad at all!  Second place went to Brad Moser and Natalie Lowe, with a total of 9.16 lbs. and a check for $873.  They also picked up an extra $150 for being the Top Skeeter in Event 3, meaning their Second Place catch and Top Skeeter Bonus earned them better than 1st Place Money!  Congrats to Brad and Natalie who also took the lead in the 2015 Team of the Year Standings, which can be found here.  Rounding out the Top 3 was Event 2 winners, Hermie Veach and Randy Bolin, who brought in 6 for 8.97 lbs and earned $586.  Big Bass and the First Out of The Money Prop Repair Prize went to Tony Holt and Steve Chambers, who picked up $220 and a Free Prop Repair.

In total, nearly $3,000 was paid back to anglers at the ramp, and we've made our third contribution to the 2015 Classic Fund.  Keep in mind, we're offering the best value on the water, with a $120 entry fee and NO membership fees! Event 2 Update

We had a good 30 boat turnout for Event 2 of the Deer Creek Bass Trail and although fewer bass were weighed in, the overall weight was up, as many anglers found several quality fish.  Hermie Veach and Randy Bolin established the current Heavy Weight Award Benchmark with a catch of 16.76 pounds and first place.  Their catch was good for $1,170.  Second place went to Brandon and Tony Barker with a catch of 15.33 lbs, including Big Bass of the event at 4.32 lbs.  With Second Place, Big Bass, Top Perry Marine Bonus, and Top Skeeter Bonus, they hauled in over $1,500 in prize money!  Rounding out the top three was Brad Mosier and Natalie Lowe, with six bass weighing 13.74 lbs, worth over $600.

Since our first scheduled event of the season was canceled due to the high water, this event will serve as Event 1. We'll be using the scheduled alternate date, Saturday, August 15, as the replacement.  Please encourage your fishing friends to join us for the rest of the season.  If they compete in the next five events, they'll still be eligible for the 2015 Deer Creek Bass Trail Classic...we'll see you again June 14 for Event 2!
